The Western Desert region is characterized by natural treasures and countless riches in addition to the environmental features that are unique to this vast region in western Egypt, located on the geographical borders of the New Valley Governorate, specifically in the Farafra Center, which is characterized by geological diversity created by the divine ability and produced creative artistic paintings, the most important of which are the Black Desert and White Desert reserves, each of which has its own unique beauty. These natural wonders are included in Egypt Travel Packages and are a must-see for nature enthusiasts exploring Egypt.

The Black Desert is located in the Western Desert in the area between the Bahariya and Farafra oases, extending from south of Al-Bawiti Center to approximately 70 km towards Farafra and slightly away from the north of the White Desert, as it is closer to the Bahariya Oasis than the Farafra Oasis. This region is popular for Egypt Shore Excursions that offer travelers a chance to experience its stunning landscapes.

The Black Desert was called this name due to the presence of a layer of black powder that covers its mountains, plateaus and sands, as a result of ancient weathering factors and erosion of rocks over the years, the rocks of the Jurassic era do not appear in the region much, but the rocks of the Cretaceous period appear, and these hills vary in their sizes, formations, heights and shapes and consist of basalt rocks, dolorite, iron quartzite, iron sandstone and iron oxides in their various colors.

Among the most famous mountains in the Black Desert region is Al-Marsous Mountain, which is a crater consisting of sandstone rocks covered with basalt slabs that appear in the form of stacked columns, so the people of the Bahariya Oasis called it Al-Marsous Mountain and its area is estimated at about 2 km², and the Panorama Mountain, where visitors to the Black Desert used to climb to take panoramic pictures of the Black Desert from the highest point, and the English Mountain, located in the area between the village of Mendisha and Al-Bawiti city. If you're planning Egypt Day Tours, these mountains provide ideal spots for adventure seekers.

As for the White Desert, relatively far from the Black Desert and radically different in the nature of the formation, it is a chalky land to the north of the Farafra Oasis, and contains unique natural rock formations, and the White Desert Reserve was approved by UNESCO to be the first geopark, as members of the UNESCO regional office for the Arab countries unanimously chose the White Desert Reserve to be the first Egyptian geopark, as it meets the criteria set by UNESCO, located 45 kilometers north of the Farafra Oasis at a distance of 500 kilometers from Cairo.

The White Desert contains a group of sand dunes and valleys with vegetation that contains most of the wildlife that lives in the region, and contains prehistoric artifacts and tools, and there are remains of rare tombs and caves and ancient mummies, as the calcifications of the White Desert were formed 80 million years ago, and its calcifications are considered to be of a unique type called karst. One of the unique qualities called karst, which is a very ancient geological phenomenon, and these calcifications over time have formed caves, which in turn were transformed by erosion factors into raised crystals of calcite ore in various shapes such as mushrooms and various other shapes, and it has a special area called the mushroom area, which is very attractive to tourists and included in Egypt Travel Packages for those seeking unique geological experiences.
