Happy International Mother's Day
Today is Mother's Day, which is celebrated worldwide on this day, Monday, and in some countries, there is a day in the spring season, that is celebrated on March 21, is the Mother’s Day. It is a commemoration that has existed since the early 20th century, dated by certain countries to appreciate motherhood and mothers and in turn appreciate the contribution of mothers to society.
Western and European thinkers, after they found that children in their societies neglected their mothers and did not take full care of them, wanted to make a day in the year to remind children of their mothers. Mother's Day is celebrated on many days and in various cities around the world, and it is mostly celebrated in March.
The observation of Mother’s Day differs across nations for instance, in the Arab world, it occurs on the first day of spring which is on March 21, but in Norway Mother’s Day is celebrated much earlier on February 2, in Argentina, it would be more than three weeks later on October 3, whereas South Africa would celebrate it on May 1. In the United States and Germany, the celebration occurs every year on the second Sunday of May, while in Indonesia, Mother’s Day is observed on the 22nd day of December.
The first Mother's Day celebration was in 1908, when Anna Jarvis memorialized her mother in America. She then began a campaign to make Mother's Day recognized in the United States.
Anna Jarvis is an American activist born in 1864, whose mother always said: “Sometime, somewhere, someone will call the idea of celebrating Mother's Day.” Her wish was that if each of these families at war with each other honored and celebrated the mother, the conflict and hatred that fills the hearts would end, and when Anna's mother died, she swore to herself that she would be that person who would fulfill her mother's wish and make it come true.
Although Anna Jarvis was successful in 1914, she was disappointed in 1920, because they stated that she did it for the sake of commerce. Jarvis Day was adopted by cities and is now celebrated all over the world. In this tradition, everyone gives a gift, card, or memory to mothers and grandmothers.
