Kafr El Sheikh Governorate is an Egyptian governorate, located in the northernmost part of Egypt in the Nile Delta, with Kafr El Sheikh as its capital. It had a population of 3,172,753 in 2015 and an area of 3,748 km². Its entire area is located north of the delta and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. 

The governorate is administratively divided into 10 centres with 13 cities, namely: Kafr El Sheikh, Desouk, Fouh, Motobis, Qalayn, Sidi Salem, Riyadh, Sidi Ghazi, Bella, Hamoul, Baltim, Baltim Resort, and Burj El Burullus. The governorate celebrates its National Day on 4 November every year to commemorate the victory in the 1956 Burullus naval battle (68 years ago).

What is the Kafr El Sheikh governorate famous for?

The main economic activity of the residents of the governorate is agriculture and fishing, especially the southern lands of the governorate and the lands overlooking the Nile River - Rosetta Branch. The governorate produces a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and cash crops. Industrial activity also contributes strongly alongside agricultural activity in the cities of Kafr El-Sheikh, Desouk, Mutubis, Baltim, and Hamoul in particular.

On the coastal international road in Motobes on an area of 1160 acres that can be increased to 3000 acres, and it is planned to establish 523 projects that provide new job opportunities for about 40,000 workers, and 28 projects have been approved for construction in various industrial activities, where 3 projects received the land and the construction phase did not start in two of them, and 23 projects are in the process of completing the required procedures for delivery and receiving the land and starting the construction phase.
