Safaga is a port and resort on the shore of the Red Sea with many distinguished tourist villages, hotels and restaurants, and is characterized by its pure, pollution-free air, high-salinity water and black sand dunes that have distinct therapeutic properties. Its clean beaches and strong winds make it an ideal place for surfing. As for the tourist facilities in Safaga, they are numerous, as there are many hotels, restrooms, and tourist chalets.

In the field of industry, in the south of the town there is the Sukari gold mine, a marble quarry, and other quarries for stone and sand. The city is also famous for the production of phosphate, one of the most important and sought-after materials in the local and international markets.
