The Valley of the Golden Mummies is the largest cemetery in Egypt dating from the Greco-Roman period. Around 250 mummies have been discovered here, most of them belonging to members of the aristocracy who lived in the Bahariya oasis during the Greco-Roman period. In the Bahariya oasis, some 420 kilometres from Cairo, lies the Valley of the Golden Mummies, which is regularly visited on tours of Egypt. This funerary catacomb housing thousands of golden mummies was exploited throughout the Greco-Roman period of Egyptian life. Findings indicate that it was intended for the middle and upper classes.

The Valley of the Golden Mummies is an archaeological site located in Bahariya Oasis in the Minya Governorate of Egypt, also known as the "Valley of the Golden Sands." The site features ancient tombs dating back to the Roman era, and the mummies discovered here are among the most significant archaeological finds in Egypt during the 20th century.
