Montazah Palace Gardens in Alexandria

The palace is characterized by a combination of different artistic styles, most notably Byzantine, Gothic, classical and Islamic. As for the name, the word “Haramlik” is originally a Turkish word that appeared as a term in Islamic architecture

It is referred to as the place for the harem because men and women were strictly prohibited from mixing and thus a section of the house was set aside for harem to ensure their purity and secrecy was maintained. The palace contains many antiques and pieces of French-style art, and is characterized by its decorations made in the Baroque and Rococo style, which consists of interlocking geometric and floral motifs.

The interior of the palace consists of a central hall, i.e. an internal courtyard covered by the height of the building and surrounded by wings and rooms, as it consists of three floors. The ground floor contains several rooms and halls, the most important of which are the king's office, dining room and billiard room.

The middle floor, where the rooms of the maids of honor and shamsharja, a layer that serves the princesses and the king.
