Jordan is one of the active countries in terms of tourism and business, which is why it includes several major airports distributed throughout the main regions of the Kingdom, each with a special function and specific destinations, and all Jordanian airports fall under the umbrella of the Jordan Airports Company (JAC), which is 100% owned by the Jordanian state, and the Jordan Airports Company is responsible for operating current and future airports on Jordanian territory, and the company also aims to expand the airports, their buildings and facilities, and provide all related services.
Aqaba Airport, also known as King Hussein International Airport, is an airport located near Industrial City, a suburb north of Aqaba, Jordan. With an annual capacity of 1,000,000, the airport has 4 check-in counters, 2 gates, a cargo building, a loading dock and a parallel taxiway. The airport has a baggage reclaim belt, 200 short-term parking spaces, a post office, a bank, cafés, a VIP lounge, a duty-free store, souvenir stores and a clinic.
The airport also includes buildings for the Ayla Aviation Academy, the Royal Jordan Academy, the Aero Wings for Industry light aircraft assembly plant, the Jordan Services Jets (JPJets) private jet terminal and the Al Baddad international group maintenance center. A new cargo terminal and a new cargo platform were inaugurated in January 2005.
