Jordan's Royal Automobile Museum
The Royal Jordanian Automobile Museum is one of the most important tourist places in Amman, and the museum displays many of the cars of the kings who ruled Jordan, and in the recent period, the museum includes many rare cars and motorcycles, and with the cars there are archival photos that narrate the history of the cars in the museum.
Appearing for the first time in the Arab world in the year 2003 is a royal car museum that commemorates the historical period of historical reign of King Hussein bin Talal, 47 years in length which was characterized by marked and engraved milestones throughout. Additionally, the car museum covers the entire history of the Hashemite kingdom from the time of King Abdullah I the founding father to the current ruler King Abdullah II.
In order to improve the relevance of the museum during the 76th Independence Day festivities in the country, besides its collection of rare cars and bicycles, a great number of archival photos and video clips on the history of Jordan and the Hashemite royal family, some featuring a myriad of dignitaries and world leaders visiting, as well as significant political developments both within and outside the country, are being displayed.
The models and stories of the cars on display at the museum are varied, such as Founding King Abdullah I's Humber Super Snipe, which he used for his visits to Jerusalem to pray there, a unique collection of celebration cars for the coronation of the late King Hussein, his private and official cars, as well as the sports cars that he drove in rally races to the heights of Tel Rumman, and a collection of cars gifted by heads of state in the world as well as cars in which he received his guests.
The museum also includes cars that have been acquired for display, such as the car that was used in the filming of ‘Star Wars 2019’ in the Wadi Rum desert area, which was presented to the museum by Disney Productions and is made of metal and fibreglass.
The museum also includes a luminous electric bike ‘Zion’ 2012 made in the United States of America, which was used in the movie ‘Tron’ 2012 and is the only bike in the world on loan to the museum, with a speed of up to 110 km per hour, made of insulated glass and a lithium battery, which is made of insulated glass and a lithium battery.
