Ibrahim Pacha était le fils aîné du souverain égyptien, Muhammad Ali Pacha. Il a temporairement succédé à son père comme dirigeant du 2 mars au 10 novembre 1848. Ibrahim a mené une grande campagne militaire dans la péninsule arabique et a vaincu le premier État saoudien. Il a également créé l'armée égyptienne en 1816.

Fouad Ier fut souverain en Égypte de 1917 à 1922. Après l'indépendance de l'Égypte le 15 mars 1922, il a changé son titre en Roi d'Égypte et du Soudan. En mai 1898, le prince Ahmed Saif Al-Din l'a attaqué en lui tirant dessus au club Mohammed Ali.
