Itinerary
The day begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Sharm el-Sheik to the airport for a short domestic flight to Cairo. Upon landing, meet your professional Egyptologist guide and proceed to the majestic visit of the El Rifai Mosque, this ornate structure has stood since times long gone and possesses beautiful Islamic architecture. Amongst its various tombs containing members of the royal families lies the tomb of King Farouk and that of the last Shah of Iran. Further across the street stands another majestic edifice, the Sultan Hassan Mosque, a great example of Mamluk architecture. Walk through its huge prayer halls and towering minarets and get familiar with its religious and educational importance in Cairo.
After exploring Islamic Cairo, stop for a traditional Egyptian lunch in a restaurant overlooking the city's life below. Post-lunch, one heads for the legendary Giza Plateau and majestic Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Your guide will describe the history of these ancient wonders and the necropolis around them.
