The Egyptian governorate of Aswan includes a diverse number of archaeological sites, including Trajan's Kiosk. Dr. Mukhtar al-Kasbani, a professor of archeology, says that Trajan is considered an incomplete building very elegant, which is characteristic of this island and dates back to the Roman era, and it is an incomplete building that does not exist. It has a roof or floor.
Al-Kasbani adds that Trajan consists of a rectangular room surrounded by fourteen columns with flowering crowns, and small walls were built between the columns to bear inscriptions and decorations, but those inscriptions were not completed.
Trajan, the Roman emperor, constructed an Egyptian temple known as the Kiosk. On the island of Agilkia, this temple is among the few substantial remnants of ancient Egyptian architecture.
He indicates that Trajan's booth has three entrances, the first in the east, the second in the west, and a third smaller door in the north, and this building is considered one of the most beautiful buildings on this island, which has become a symbol of all the Philae temples. There are inscriptions and decorations between the columns, but these inscriptions were not completed, and we have only two of them representing Emperor Trajan burning incense in front of Isis and Osiris.
The Egyptian Government has worked with international partners to protect Egypt’s heritage under threat. Several such projects have helped to save examples of Egypt’s rich heritage for future generations. Since 2000, many groups have been documenting the sites at most risk from development and cultivation. During the construction of the Aswan High Dam, in the 1960s, towns, and villages disappeared under the rising waters of the Nile. Efforts to salvage the threatened Nubian and Aswan temples were successful. This was achieved with the support of UNESCO, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and others. Projects have not only focused on Ancient Egyptian sites. In the early 2000s, the beautiful Coptic Red and White Monasteries in Sohag were restored. A new museum in Sohag has recently opened to display the history and archaeology of the town. In 2002, the Supreme Council of Antiquities restored 25 Ottoman-era houses in Rosetta.
