After breakfast, embark on an exhilarating tour to explore some of Egypt's most renowned landmarks.
Commence your journey with the Sphinx, the world's largest monolithic statue and the earliest known colossal sculpture. Begin with a visit to the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure.
Nearby lies the Valley Temple, credited to King Chefren's construction in the 26th century BCE, partly used for mummy preservation.
Next on the itinerary is the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, globally acclaimed for its extensive collection of Egyptian treasures and monuments. Marvel at the exceptional Tutankhamen collection among other pharaonic art objects.
Wander through the historic streets of downtown Cairo, starting with the grand medieval Salah El-din Citadel and its enclosed Mohamed Ali alabaster mosque—once a defense against the Crusaders. Revel in the breathtaking vaulted ceilings, hanging lights, and panoramic views from this former fortress. In the evening, explore the Khan El Khalili Old Market and the Old Cairo churches.
Cap off your day with a magical two-hour Nile River cruise featuring an Egyptian-style dinner and live entertainment. Indulge in a captivating Nile cruise dinner before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Following your breakfast, a short flight will take you to Luxor, situated approximately 420 kilometers south of Cairo in the Nile Valley (676 kilometers by road). One of the highlights of the day includes a visit to the Karnak Temple, the largest surviving temple in Egypt. Originating from the Middle Kingdom, it served as a prominent religious center. On the east side of the Nile, you'll also explore the expansive Luxor Temple complex, dating back to around 1400 BCE in the New Kingdom.
Today, on a boat journey to commence your exploration along the Nile. Your itinerary includes a visit to the Valley of the Kings, where you'll witness the rock-cut tombs of Tutankhamun and other affluent nobles, dating from the sixteenth to the eleventh centuries BCE. Following that, marvel at the remnants of Amenhotep's memorial temple, represented by the Colossi of Memnon. These towering sculptures, originally erected as guardians at the temple's entrance by Amenhotep III, now stand reduced to only two.
Proceed to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the focal point of Deir el-Bahri, a complex featuring funerary temples and tombs dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut.
Today, your journey progresses as you pass through Esna Lock on your way to the next destination, the temples at Edfu. Your guide will delve deeper into the significance of these temples. The Edfu Temple of Horus, constructed between 237 and 57 BCE, boasts well-preserved inscriptions that can still be discerned, making it one of Egypt's best-preserved temples. Following dinner, you can relax on the boat while enjoying the sunset over the Nile.
The river voyage continues to Kom Ombo, where the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris stands. This temple venerates the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris (Haroeris). Many walls of its courts, halls, sanctuaries, and chambers, adorned with wall sculptures and statues, still endure. In the late afternoon, the journey proceeds to Aswan, where you will spend the night.
There will be time today to visit the Aswan High Dam, which was begun in the 1960s and finished in 1970. It was an engineering marvel at the time since it increased Egypt's arable land by 30% and doubled the country's power supply. Instead, go to the Philae Temple, whose construction began in 690 BCE.
The magnificent Abu Simbel Temples, a pair of temples built in Egypt between 1279 and 1213 BCE, will then be our next stop on the tour.
Take pleasure in your dinner and the ship's night.
This morning, you will catch a flight to Cairo. Upon your arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel in Cairo, allowing you to relax. Later, you have the option to indulge in some shopping, savor Egyptian cuisine, or simply appreciate the scenic views of the Nile River at sunset.
Accommodation will be provided at a hotel.
In a modern, air-conditioned vehicle, our tour leader will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo to initiate our expedition to Fayoum. Upon reaching Fayoum, our first destination is the Kom Aushim Museum, a comprehensive site providing guides for all of Fayoum. Established in 1974, the museum showcases artifacts spanning from the Prehistoric to Roman epochs, along with a captivating painting depicting Fayoum.
Our next stop is Karanis, also known as "The Lord's Town," which stands as one of the largest Greco-Roman cities in Fayoum. Founded in the third century B.C. by mercenaries from Ptolemy the Second's army, the city boasts two temples.
Moving forward, we'll explore Hawara (Arsinoiton polis), established during the construction of the Pyramid Complex in the eleventh Dynasty by Amenemhet III.
Next on the itinerary is Lake Qarun, named after the King buried there with his wealth and treasures. Lunch will be provided on the shores of Qarun Lake.
The tour continues with a visit to the Waterfall and Wadi El Rayan, a 673-kilometer-long, 42-meter-deep valley. In 1966, this depression was transformed into a water reservoir, connected to Qarun Lake via underground pipes.
To conclude our journey, we'll visit the village of Tunis and explore the pottery art school before spending the night in a hotel in Fayoum.
On a desert adventure in a 4x4 Jeep, starting from Tunis Village, Qarun Lake, or any location your tour guide selects after picking you up from your hotel following breakfast. Head towards the mesmerizing Wadi El Hitan, also known as "Wadi Al Hitan" Discovered in 1936 and renowned among scientists in the Zeuglodon Valley, this protected region is a natural heritage site that earned a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005. Located 35 kilometers west of Wadi El-Ryan, it's nestled into the western desert.
Wadi El Hitan is an abundant fossil site, often referred to as an outdoor museum, dating back 45 million years. It features soft rock fossils, including petrified mangrove roots, shark teeth, and prehistoric whale teeth. Coral and seashell fossils are scattered throughout the area.
Explore the Fossil & Climate Change Museum, showcasing numerous fossilized mangroves, whale bones, and other prehistoric marine life outdoors, as well as fossils, skeletons, and more inside glass exhibits.
Following this, visit Qusur El Arab, enjoy a delightful supper, and then return to the Fayoum oasis to visit the Madinet Madi shrine. On your way back to Cairo, stop to see the Fayoum Pyramids before reaching your accommodation in Cairo.
Your journey for today concludes. Proceed to Cairo Airport for your departing flight. Safe travels!
