Today, we will visit the old kingdom necropolis in Saqqara and the Giza Plateau, and we will witness the 1st capital of Egypt, approximately 5000 years ago.
Begin with your tour to the Giza Pyramids to see the enormous structures that were established by the great pharaohs of Egypt throughout the 4th dynasty, Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus. The biggest one belongs to King Cheops, and your tour guide will get into details about why and how the pyramids were built. Continue to the high plateau to enjoy camel riding in the Giza Pyramids (optional), and your guide will capture impressive photos for the memory of these amazing days.
We will see the Great Sphinx, the man-headed lion design, which is 73 meters tall, and we will also visit the Valley Temple, part of the funerary complex of King Khafre, most probably the place where his body was mummified before burial.
Your driver will take you to Saqqara Necropolis, about 45 minutes from Cairo, to see the oldest stone pyramid in Egypt, the Step Pyramid, which was built by the famous architect Imhotep for his king, Djoser of the 3rd dynasty. The pyramid is a transitional phase in the development of the royal burial tombs.
We can enter the Pyramid of Teti, who ruled the country during the 6th dynasty and the tomb of his son-in-law, Kagemni's tomb, which is one of the most impressive tombs of the nobles for having a rich amount of offerings and hunting scenes inscribed on its walls and is still very well-preserved until now.
Transfer to Memphis, now known as Mit Rahina, to see the open-air museum with its amazing artifacts, especially the alabaster sphinx of Memphis and the colossal statue of Ramses II, the New Kingdom's legendary pharaoh, who is the owner of the impressive Abu Simbel Temples in Aswan.
Transfer back to your hotel and overnight.
