Temple of Alexander the Great in Bahariya Oasis
The temple was built during the 26th Dynasty by Amasis to worship Amun Re and related deities. During one of the great warlord's expeditions to the Western Desert, he passed by a temple in the region, little remains of the original structures.
Alexander made offerings to the Egyptian gods worshipped at this temple to commemorate his passage on his way to Siwa. On one of the walls of the temple, a magnificent depiction of Alexander offering great gifts to the god Amun is preserved.
