Khedive Ismail dreamed of turning Cairo into a city comparable to Paris in its beauty and elegance, and he brought in many Italian and French engineers for that, and European-style buildings were built. Upon the completion of the construction of the buildings, the street and the square were named Suleiman Pasha Square, after Suleiman Pasha al-Fransawy, the founder of the Egyptian army during the reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha, in honor of him, and a statue of him was erected in the center of the square. The square and the street remained under this name until the July Revolution of 1952 AD, which decided to get rid of all royal symbols and the defunct era. And she transferred the statue of Suleiman Pasha to the Military Museum in Cairo and replaced it with a statue of the Egyptian economist Talaat Harb, and the street and the square were named after him, which is the name of the rest until now.

The statues that were placed in the square now known as Talaat Harb Square, and are three statues since its planning in 1871 AD
- The first statue represents the military commander Suleiman Pasha al-Fransawi, whom Khedive Ismail wanted to honor by placing a statue in a field bearing his name, and this was in the period between 1871 AD and 1875 AD.
- After the revolution of 1952 AD, the statue of Suleiman Pasha was uprooted and deposited in the Military Museum yard, after which a statue that did not last long was placed in its place, and the statue was a worker symbolizing industry.
- The second statue did not last long - as if it was a transitional period between the first and the third - after that the street was renamed after the great economist "Talaat Harb" in 1964 AD, and a statue of him was placed in the middle of the square, which is still in its place.

Talaat Harb Square is located in the center of Cairo, 400 meters from Tahrir Square to the south, 775 meters from Al Tawfiqia Square to the north, 850 meters from Al Salam Aref Square to the east, and 400 meters from Abdel Moneim Riad Square to the west. Talaat Harb Street, Muhammad Sabry Abu Alam Street, Qasr al-Nil Street, and Muhammad Bassiouni Street pass through it.
