History of Mosque of Taghri Bardi in Cairo

It was built by Prince Youssef Ibn Taghri Bardi, and it was stated in his translation in the book Al-Daw’ Al-Lama’ by Al-Hafiz Al-Sakhawi: “And my daughter has a tremendous soil close to the soil of the nobles Inal (Al-Saliba now in the Tulun neighborhood) and he endowed his books and compilations there.

He spent the year 874 AH and was buried the next day in his soil. Thus, it becomes clear that Ibn Taghri Bardi was buried in the tomb of his school in Al-Saliba, but he established another school in Darb Al-Maqasid in the Al-Sagha neighborhood to teach the Shafi’i and Hanafi schools of thought.

Like the style of religious architectural establishments in the era of the Circassian Mamluks, it is a school with iwans. The facility also includes a shrine dome located to the right of the interior from the main entrance door to the school.

To the right of the entrance is the mausoleum dome, whose outer surface is adorned with polygonal stone motifs, beginning with memes. Next to this dome is the Mamluk-style minaret, whose summit ends with a chorus carried on graceful marble columns. As for the left of the entrance from this entrance, there is the sabil, surmounted by a book, and they occupy the right side of this eastern facade.
